Your PlayStation or Xbox card is for another region
You redeem the code and the console says it's not valid in your country. The card isn't broken: it was sold for another region's store. Before you try workarounds, here's what's worth doing.

Why it happens
PlayStation Store and Microsoft Store run one store per country, each with its own prices. Gift cards are sold for one of them and only work with accounts from that country.
Changing your account's region
On PlayStation, an account's country can't be changed. A new account in the other country means starting over: no games, no trophies, no saves from your main one.
On Xbox, Microsoft allows region changes only with limits, and things like subscriptions or balances can get in the way. Doing it just to use one card is rarely worth the trouble.
Better options
- Give it to someone in that regionA friend whose account is from that country can use it right away.
- Sell itPick the card's own country and see the price before sharing the code. You're paid in your own money.
Where's the code? PlayStation: 12 characters, three groups of four. Xbox: 25 characters, five groups of five.
Questions
Can I use a US PlayStation card in Mexico?
Only on a US PlayStation account. Mexican accounts need Mexican cards.
If I redeemed it on the wrong account, can I sell it?
No. Once a code is redeemed, the balance stays in that account.
Do you buy cards from every country?
We buy them from the countries listed on each brand; there's also an "other country" option, checked by hand, at a lower price.
