Terms of use

This page explains the deal when you sell a gift card on SpareCards. Please read it before you send a card: sending us an order means you accept it.

What SpareCards does

You tell us which gift card you have and how much is on it. We show you exactly what you'll get. If you agree, you give us the card's details, we check the card, and then we pay you the way you picked.

We buy the card's balance from you at the price we showed. We're not a bank, we don't hold your money, and we don't send money on behalf of other people.

Who can sell

You need to be 18 or older and able to agree to these terms. There's no account and no ID check: your orders are linked to the email address you give us, which we confirm with a one-time code when you want to see them.

The card has to be yours

When you send us a card, you're telling us that:

  • it belongs to you, or its owner said you can sell it;
  • it wasn't stolen, bought with someone else's card or account, or obtained through a scam or pressure;
  • nobody has spent it, and you won't use it, share it or sell it again after sending it to us.

We don't buy stolen or fraudulent cards. If we have good reason to think an order breaks these rules, we can stop, hold or cancel it, and we may work with the card's issuer or the police when the law asks us to.

Your price, and when it's locked

Prices move while you're choosing. Your price is locked the moment you move on to sending your codes. From then you have 5 minutes to send them; after that you'll need a new price. Once the codes are in, your price stays put, provided the card works and is the card you described.

Cards in another currency are converted at the rate shown before you send anything. If you're paid in crypto, the coin's price is locked together with yours (USDT and USDC count as one US dollar each), so later price changes don't affect what you get, up or down.

If the card turns out to have a different balance, country or type than the one you entered, we'll tell you on your order page and either offer a new price for what the card really is, or cancel the order.

How we check cards

A person checks every card before anything is paid. Sometimes we need a little more, such as a sharper picture of the card, or of the receipt; we'll ask on your order page, and only when the check really needs it.

If a card is invalid, already used or not what was described, that card isn't paid. Gift card balances can be spent in seconds, so we can't hand back a code once it has been sent.

Getting paid

Once the check is done, we send the money to the place you gave us: a PayPal account, a bank account, a payment app (Skrill, Revolut, Zelle or Cash App) or a crypto wallet. Bank payments use SEPA (euros), SPEI (Mexican pesos) or ACH (dollars); PayPal pays in dollars, euros, pounds or pesos, your pick. Skrill pays in dollars or euros, Revolut in euros, pounds or dollars, and Zelle and Cash App in dollars, to the account linked to the email, Revtag, phone or $cashtag you enter. Times shown on the site are what usually happens, not a promise.

Please double-check where we should pay you. Once crypto is sent it can't be pulled back, and we only send each coin over the network you picked. We can't be responsible for money sent to a wrong address, account or network that you entered. If a network charges a fee, we show it before you continue and it comes out of the total.

If paying you takes longer than your order page said, we flag the order as delayed; it stays on file, card included. You can always write to support@sparecards.com.

Our responsibility

As far as the law allows, the most we're responsible for on any order is the amount we quoted for it. Indirect losses aren't on us, and neither are hold-ups caused by the companies behind the cards, by payment networks or blockchains, or by anything else reasonably outside our hands.

If these terms change

We may update this page. Your order follows the version that was online when you sent it. The date at the top tells you when it last changed.
